Earth Overshoot Day indicates the time when people have exploited all the natural resources that the Earth is able to regenerate in the same year.
The first Earth Overshoot Day was declared December 21, 1971 by the Global Footprint Network, a non-profit association that keeps the accounts of the exploitation of natural resources.
Since that year, Overshoot has continued to anticipate the previous year's date, up to this year which we record July 29th as the first date compared to all the past years.
Currently, resources equal to 1.7 times the regenerative capacities of the Earth are consumed and it can be estimated that at this rate by 2050 humanity will consume more than twice what Earth will be able to produce.
At this point it is essential to gear up and help our planet to whom we have taken so much.
Verde Profilo works daily to bring improvement to the buildings in order to reduce the consume of resources, energy and water.
